DOVS Professors in full support of APAO 2023 Congress

The 38th Asia-Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology (APAO) Congress (APAO 2023 Congress), held from 23 to 26 February 2023 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, concluded successfully.  Professors from the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences (DOVS) of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) have fully supported the APAO 2023 Congress in numerous capacities.

The Chairman of the Department, Prof Clement CY THAM, who is also the Secretary-General and CEO of APAO, remarked, The APAO 2023 Congress has been long-awaited since the pandemic.  Joined by thousands of ophthalmologists and visual scientists worldwide, the APAO Congress promotes the exchange of world-class clinical knowledge and research findings.  It also fosters advancement in clinical ophthalmology and ophthalmic research.  I am happy that our faculty members have played substantial roles in the Scientific Programme Committee and the Abstract Reviewing Committee as well as being chairs and speakers in different symposia to support the APAO 2023 Congress.

Prof Tham is also the incumbent Chair of the APAO Congress Committee.  He has been heavily involved in organising every annual APAO Congress since 2009.

The APAO is the largest supranational ophthalmic organisation, comprising 25 national member societies and 11 subspecialty member societies in the Asia-Pacific region.  The APAO 2023 Congress is a flagship event in ophthalmology and visual sciences.  Joined by thousands of ophthalmic professionals from Asia-Pacific and worldwide, the APAO 2023 Congress has provided a platform for in-depth discussions on the prevention and therapy of eye diseases and the exchange of frontier clinical and benchtop research findings in the ophthalmic discipline.
