Our Department aims to provide subspecialty training and enhancement (clinical and / or laboratory) of high international standard to up-and-coming ophthalmologists, from overseas or mainland China. On the other hand, the programme intends to foster professional ties and collaboration among The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) / Hong Kong Eye Hospital (HKEH) / Prince of Wales Hospital (PWH), and ophthalmology departments and institutes, overseas or in mainland China, sharing the same vision of advancement through pursuance of excellence.

  1. Applicants should be under the age of 45, and have completed a residency in general ophthalmology;
  2. Preference will be given to individuals who have completed a full subspecialty fellowship programme and have a strong track record in research and publication;

  1. Fellows will NOT be charged course / tuition fees by CUHK, HKEH or PWH;
  2. No salary or financial support will be provided by CUHK, HKEH or PWH;
  3. Each fellow is responsible for his / her own fees for training visa and limited medical registration (clinical fellows only), unless these are covered by scholarship (see below);
  4. Fellows planning for clinical attachments are required to subscribe to medical malpractice insurance to cover the duration of attachment (depending on the level of clinical experience), unless this is covered by scholarship.
  1. Up to 5 Scholarships will be provided to CUHK-HKEH-PWH International Ophthalmology Fellowships per year;
  2. Scholarships are provided by CUHK / HKEH / PWH, in conjunction with charitable foundations and / or professional organizations;
