CUHK DOVS Professors Play Key Roles in APAO 2025 Congress

Professors from the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences (DOVS) of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) were honoured to participate in the 40th Asia-Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology (APAO) Congress (APAO 2025 Congress), held from 3 to 6 April, 2025, in New Delhi, India, in conjunction with the 83rd Annual Conference of the All India Ophthalmological Society (AIOS). CUHK professors contributed in various leadership roles, and served as chairs and speakers in multiple symposia, making important contributions to the success of the Congress.

Under the theme of ‶Transcending Boundaries in Ophthalmology,″ the APAO 2025 Congress brought together over 2200 top-notched presenters from 44 countries, presenting groundbreaking research across a diverse spectrum of topics within major ophthalmic subspecialties. With over 12,500 delegates attending, the shared expertise and enthusiasm drove innovations in eye care, benefiting patients globally.

Prof Clement CY THAM, Chairman of the DOVS, who is also the Secretary-General and CEO of the APAO, highlighted the significance of the Congress in fostering global collaborations, ‶The APAO 2025 Congress demonstrates the power of collaboration in the ophthalmic community. By bringing together experts from around the world, we are able to share insights and drive forward the field of ophthalmology.″

Prof Tham also expressed gratitude for the dedication of the CUHK faculty members, ‶The knowledge and innovations shared at the APAO 2025 Congress will undoubtedly have a lasting impact on patient care. We are honoured to be part of an event that fosters such meaningful advancements in eye health,″ he added.

The next APAO Congress will be hosted in Hong Kong, with Prof Jason CS YAM serving as the Congress President. We believe the APAO 2026 Congress will further promote international cooperation amongst ophthalmic professionals and enhance advancements in academics and research. We look forward to the APAO 2026 Congress in Hong Kong.
