Dr Jason CS YAM receives CUHK Research Excellence Award 2022/23

We are pleased that Dr Jason CS YAM, Associate Professor of the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences (DOVS), The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), has received the Research Excellence Award 2022/23 in the Faculty of Medicine by the Research Committee of CUHK, in recognition of his outstanding achievements and contributions to ophthalmic research.

Dr Yam is the Principal Investigator of the Low-concentration Atropine for Myopia Progression (LAMP-1) Study and the Low-concentration Atropine for Myopia Prevention (LAMP-2) Study.  The LAMP-1 study is the first randomized placebo-controlled trial of low-concentration atropine eye drops to control myopia progression, and the LAMP-2 study the first randomized placebo-controlled trial of low-concentration atropine eye drops to prevent myopia.  Through these studies, management guidelines in myopia control and prevention using low-concentration atropine eye drops for global reference have been established.  The work has been published in JAMA and a series of 5 original articles in Ophthalmology.

The CUHK Research Excellence Award aims to provide a long-term, overall positive effect on promoting research excellence at the University and further improving the success rate of all major research grant applications.  Researchers who contributed significantly to their respective fields through innovative and impactful research are eligible for the award.
