It is with great excitement to announce that Dr Jason CS YAM, Associate Professor of the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences (DOVS), The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), has been honored with the prestigious “De Ocampo Lecture” award by the Asia-Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology (APAO) during the APAO 2024 Congress in Bali, for his exceptional contributions in the field of Myopia and Children’s Eye Diseases.
The De Ocampo Lecture is named after Geminiano de Ocampo, the founding president of the APAO. It is the highest award for excellent academic achievements bestowed to one ophthalmologist from the whole Asia-Pacific region in clinical and/or basic eye research biennially.
During the recent APAO 2024 Congress, Dr Yam delivered his award-winning lecture, entitled “Children Eye Care & Myopia Control: A Rightful Bright Future for Our New Generations”, where he highlighted his significant works on myopia, including the influential Low-concentration Atropine for Myopia Progression & Prevention (LAMP 1 & 2) Studies, and the Hong Kong Children Eye Study (HKCES).
