The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences (DOVS) at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) actively participated in the 4^th Congress of Asia-Pacific Myopia Society (APMS Congress), held in conjunction with the 2^nd Congress of Hong Kong Vitreoretina Society (HKVRS Congress) on 12-13 July, 2025 at Cyberport, Hong Kong.

Prof Jason CS YAM and Prof Calvin CP PANG were Congress Presidents of the 4^th APMS Congress. Honorary Professors Prof Timothy YY LAI and Prof Dennis SC LAM served as Presidents of the HKVRS Congress. Chairman of our Department, Prof Clement CY Tham, and DOVS members including Prof Guy LJ CHEN, Prof Carol YL CHEUNG, Dr Mårten E BRELÉN, Dr Poemen PM CHAN,  Dr Simon KH SZETO, Dr Aziz KW KAM, Dr WANG Yuyao and Dr ZHANG Yuzhou served in capacities such as session chairs and symposium speakers.

The APMS and the HKVRS Congresses focused on the latest advancements in myopia research and detection and treatment of vitreo-retinal diseases. In the scientific sessions there were updated presentations and vigorous discussions of upfront knowledge, explorations of novel detections, critical appraisal of treatment modes. Notably, collaborations were discussed and new collaboration ventures were initiated. Through lectures, workshops, and discussions, global experts and up-and-coming clinician scientists have renewed strong professional and scientific networking dedicated to addressing growing eye health challenges.

We look forward to fruitful collaborations in myopia and retina research for the benefits of patients worldwide.
