We are pleased to announce that Dr Tony TC MAN, a post-doctoral researcher on the team led by the Department’s Associate Professor, Dr Mårten E BRELÉN, has received a commendation for the Eberhardt Dodt Memorial Award for his oral presentation at the 60th Symposium of the International Society for Clinical Electrophysiology of Vision (ISCEV), held from 15 to 18 March 2023, in Kyoto, Japan.
The Eberhardt Dodt Memorial Award is a prestigious award given to a young scientist, under 35 years of age, in clinical electrophysiology of vision who makes the best oral presentation at the annual ISCEV Symposium. Tony’s commendation is a recognition of his exceptional presentation skills and high-quality research.
Dr Brelén’s team has been innovating novel biomedical devices in the field of ophthalmology, and Tony’s work represents a significant contribution to the field. Tony presented on the team’s novel wireless transmission system for electroretinography, an electrophysiological test used to measure the electrical activity of the retina in response to light. The system overcomes the issue of line noise through digitization of the recorded signal and wireless transmission. The system also has the potential to revolutionise how the electrophysiological test is performed, making it more accessible and less prone to noise interference.
Tony’s award will inspire the research team to continue pushing the boundaries of ophthalmology research by developing cutting-edge devices to improve patient outcomes.
Congratulations to Tony!
