The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences (DOVS) of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) is delighted to announce the appointment of the Chief of Service of the Hong Kong Eye Hospital, Prof Carmen KM CHAN, as Clinical Professor (Honorary) at the Department.
Prof Clement CY THAM, Chairman of the Department, expressed gratitude to Prof Chan for accepting the appointment, ‶We are honoured to have Prof Carmen KM CHAN joining our Honorary Clinical Professor team. Prof Chan has been working closely with us in various education and training collaborations, including acting as the Director of the Neuro-Ophthalmology Fellowship Programme, Faculty member of the Medical Retina and Uveitis Fellowship Programme, and course instructor of the CUHK Ophthalmic Microsurgical Training Centre (OMTC). We believe that our staff and students will benefit greatly from the educational, research, and collaboration opportunities with Prof Chan in the coming years.″
Prof Chan has taken up various roles at DOVS since 2002. In addition to the prominent roles in Fellowship Programmes and OMTC training courses, Prof Chan has been dedicated to clinical teaching for CUHK medical students, and has acted as an Examiner for DOVS PhD students. In research on eye diseases, she participates as a co-investigator or co-leader of many DOVS research projects, including diabetic eye diseases, uveitis, thyroid eye disease, and neurologic eye diseases. Prof Chan also contributes fervently to local and international scientific meetings as a speaker, moderator, or organiser.
