We are pleased to announce that Prof Jason CS YAM, Professor of the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences (DOVS), The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), has been awarded the Exemplary Teaching Award in Service-Learning 2024-25 by Chung Chi College. This award acknowledges his exceptional contributions to teaching.

The CUHK Exemplary Teaching Award in Service-Learning aims to give recognition to outstanding educators and reflects the University′s commitment to delivering quality education. Prof Yam received the award from Prof Phoenix KH MO, Chair of the Service-Learning Committee, during the College Assembly on 24 January 2025.

Prof Yam serves as the Dean of General Education at Chung Chi College, and has played a crucial role in enhancing the quality and reach of the service learning programs at the College, creating a collaborative environment that encourages student engagement and community impact.

In his remarks, Prof Yam expressed gratitude for the recognition, “I am particularly grateful, as this is a recognition of our children programme in which we have organized several groups of Chung Chi College Students to join our service as part of the credit-bearing service-learning courses from Chung Chi College. It is a thankful experience to integrate our children programme with research, service, and teaching.” He also expressed his gratitude for the tremendous support from the Department, especially Prof Clement CY THAM, Prof Calvin CP PANG and Prof Guy LJ CHEN, as well as the entire team and the Department.
