The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences (DOVS) of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) hosted the ″CUHK-Osaka University Research Day″ on 13 Jan 2025. This event, which has been a recurring collaboration since 2012, continues to foster knowledge exchange and partnership across diverse geographical areas.
This year, it featured delegations from the Graduate School of Medicine at Osaka University (OU), led by Prof Motokazu TSUJIKAWA, along with Dr Cong CUI and Dr Meredith MENG, as well as from Wenzhou Medical University (WMU), led by Prof CHEN Jie, joined by Prof XU Dan, Prof CAO Min, Prof LI Ming, Prof YE Cong, Prof LI Xiaoman and Ms ZHANG Jianing. Professors and research teams from the DOVS, including Prof Clement CY THAM, Prof Calvin CP PANG, Prof Guy LJ CHEN, Prof Jason CS YAM, Dr CHU Wai Kit and Dr Julia YY CHAN, hosted the event.
The day began with tours of the DOVS′ research, training, and clinical facilities, providing participants with insights into the latest advancements in research and clinical infrastructure.
During the research seminars, delegates from the three universities shared their ophthalmic research on various aspects, including corneal and retinal diseases, infectious uveitis, retinoblastoma, myopia control, glaucoma and dry eyes. These sessions effectively encouraged productive academic interactions and facilitated meaningful exchanges among participants.

The event also included an insightful research meeting between CUHK and Osaka University. The whole research day brought together professionals from CUHK and Osaka University to share insights and advancements in ophthalmology and visual sciences. We look forward to continued collaboration.
