We are pleased to announce that Prof Guy LJ CHEN, Professor of the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences (DOVS) at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), was honoured with the inaugural HKVRS Dennis Lam Award Lecture 2025 during the 2nd Congress of Hong Kong Vitreoretina Society (HKVRS Congress) held on 12-13 July 2025.
Established in 2025, the HKVRS Dennis Lam Award Lecture recognises individuals aged 50 or below who have made notable contributions to advancing the understanding, diagnosis, and treatment of vitreoretinal diseases.
Prof Chen′s research has contributed to improved diagnosis and treatment of retinal conditions. His work has led to the discovery of numerous new disease genes, loci, mutations, association profiles, and biomarkers that have significantly advanced understanding and treatment options for these conditions. He is also deeply committed to postgraduate education and specialist training.
Reflecting on the recognition, Prof Chen remarked, “I am deeply honoured to receive this award and would express my heartfelt thanks to Prof Dennis SC Lam, Prof Clement CY Tham and Prof Calvin CP PANG, my mentors, for their tremendous guidance and supports. I’m also truly grateful to all my colleagues and students, whose support has been vital throughout my research journey.”
