The Health Exhibition is an annual flagship event of the CUHK Medical Society organised by a group of first- and second-year medical students. The theme for this year is ‶Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences″. The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences (DOVS) is very involved in this year′s event, with Prof Clement CY THAM, Prof Calvin CP PANG, Dr Jason CS YAM, and Dr Poemen PM CHAN as the academic advisors for this year.

Under the guidance of Dr Poemen Chan, our medical students – Jonathan SC CHENG (president), Joyce MY MA (vice-president), and Sunny L CHING (vice-president) – have led the Organising Committee to sail through several busy and challenging months under the storm of COVID-19. Dr Chan has so far arranged two clinical skills training sessions for the Organising Committee (23 July and 16 September 2022) to gear up the medical students for the upcoming public service.

Another major activity is the Hong Kong Secondary School Health Exhibition Presentation Competition (HEPC). This year, a total of 40 teams applied to the HEPC. 142 students of 25 teams were selected to pass the Screening Round. After one workshop (27 August 2022) and one preliminary round (17 September 2022) of the presentation, 10 teams have been selected for the final round of the presentation competition.

Dr Poemen Chan was gladly joined by Dr CHU Wai Kit (DOVS) and Dr Vivian WK HUI (Hong Kong Eye Hospital, HKEH) for the preliminary round of students′ presentations. We are all astonished by the creativity, enthusiasm, and knowledge that the students demonstrated.  We also like to thank Dr Leo KY CHAN (HKEH), Dr Ivan HW LAU (Prince of Wales Hospital), Dr HO Yik To (HKEH), Dr Timothy PH LIN (HKEH), and Dr Christopher MK PANG (HKEH) for guiding the secondary school students in the workshop.
