We are very delighted to share with you that Dr Carol Cheung is promoted to Associate Professor with tenure in the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Science (DOVS), The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), with effect from 22^nd May 2021.

Dr Cheung is an internationally recognized researcher in the field of ocular imaging. She has developed and applied innovative image analysis techniques including artificial intelligence for studying diabetic retinal disease, glaucoma and other eye diseases. Her research has enhanced the understanding of eye diseases, and led to a more targeted and effective screening strategy using state-of-the-art ocular imaging technologies to improve clinical workflow and patient outcomes. Dr Carol Cheung is also a fully committed and highly effective mentor and educator. She is devoted to cultivate her students to become all-rounded clinicians with global perspectives on healthcare research, intellectual curiosity, and innovative and scientific research thinking and skills.

“Carol has made immense progress in her ophthalmic imaging and artificial intelligence research in the past six years, in addition to supervising innumerable postgraduate and undergraduate students alike. In recent years, she has also shouldered key administrative responsibilities within our department.
