We are delighted that our Postdoctoral Fellow, Dr Gabriel D YANG, has been awarded the Dr Barbara Kwok Young Postdoctoral Researcher Travel Grant from the Faculty of Medicine of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) for a two-week academic visit to the Singapore National Eye Centre (SNEC) in June 2023. Gabriel participated in research activities of clinical and investigative projects at SNEC. He has gained invaluable knowledge and insights on using advanced imaging modalities to study various retinal diseases, with a particular focus on the diabetic retinal disease.
Gabriel′s visit was hosted by the SNEC renowned clinician-scientist Prof Gemmy CHEUNG, who had much inspired and encouraged him in his research work. ″It is my great honour to learn from Prof Gemmy CHEUNG and other distinguished professionals and research scientists at the Singapore National Eye Centre. I have broadened my horizons and gained valuable insights from this research visit. My supervisor, Dr Carol YL CHEUNG, and I look forward to enhancing collaboration with SNEC and producing impactful output in the foreseeable future,″ Gabriel expressed.
The Dr Barbara Kwok Young Postdoctoral Researcher Travel Grants are open to Research Associates, Postdoctoral Fellows, Research Fellows, or Senior Research Fellows, providing financial support to attend conferences, seminars, and short-term visits/training outside Hong Kong. This is important support for research scientists to enhance their scientific development and career advancement.
Gabriel is among the two awardees of the Dr Barbara Kwok Young Postdoctoral Researcher Travel Grant from the Faculty of Medicine, CUHK this year. He completed his PhD from the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences, CUHK, in 2022, and is now a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Department.
