Faculty members of the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences (DOVS) of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) were invited to deliver talks and key note lecture with other world experts at The 1st Belt and Road Eye Health Forum, held with The Shanghai International Ophthalmology Forum, The 16^th Shanghai Jiao Tong University Ophthalmology Forum, and The 5^th International Forum on Thyroid Eye Disease, from 28 Feb to 2 Mar 2025, at the Shanghai International Convention Centre, China.

The Conference, jointly organized by the Shanghai Medical Doctor Association (上海市醫師協會), the Department of Ophthalmology, Shanghai Ninth People′s Hospital (上海交通大學醫學院附屬第九人民醫院眼科), and the Ophthalmologist Branch of Shanghai Medical Doctor Association (上海市醫師協會眼科醫師分會), was attended by over 500 experts and scholars from 14 countries and regions. The Conference Chair was Prof FAN Xian Qun, (范先群院士), Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (中國工程院 CAE), Vice President of Shanghai Jiao Tong University (上海交通大学副校长), and Chancellor of Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine (上海交通大学医学院院长).

Prof Calvin CP PANG, S. H. Ho Research Professor of Visual Sciences, Prof Hunter KL YUEN, Honorary Clinical Professor, Dr Kelvin KL CHONG, Associate Professor, and  Dr CHU Wai Kit, also contributed expert advice on ophthalmic service, innovative developments and collaborative research at the ‶Belt and Road″ Eye Health Alliance Working Meeting, International Advisory Board Meeting of TED Clinical Trials and Workgroup meeting on Expert Consensus of TED in China. They were in discussion meetings hosted by Prof FAN Xian Qun, Prof ZHOU Huifang, Dr FAN Sijie and Dr ZHANG Haiyang. DOVS has been invited as one of ten founding eye institutes/departments of the Belt and Road Ophthalmic Alliance for Development (BROAD) which is recently established to advance ophthalmology and improve eye health especially across the Belt and Road countries.
