JSIEC achieves “National Key Clinical Specialty Capacity-Building Project”

The Joint Shantou International Eye Center of Shantou University and The Chinese University of Hong Kong (JSIEC) has again achieved national-level recognition as a “National Key Clinical Specialty Capacity-Building Project”, the first medical unit in Shantou to be awarded this prestigious honour.  The “National Key Clinical Specialty” granted by the National Health Commission of the People’s Republic of China is a testament to JSIEC’s outstanding medical services, advanced technological capabilities, and strong scientific research abilities.

The national-level recognition as a “National Key Clinical Specialty Capacity-Building Project” affirms JSIEC’s professional clinical services and academic excellence and provides a fresh impetus to further develop high-quality ophthalmic medical services that meets international standards.

Established in 2002, JSIEC has been committed to providing comprehensive and advanced eye care services to the community, covering nearly 30 million population in Eastern Guangdong and peripheral provinces and cities.  In the recent National Tertiary Public Hospitals Performance Appraisal, JSIEC has obtained the highest grade (Level A) in the Category of Other Specialist Hospitals – Surgery for four consecutive years and ranked top two years in a row in the Guangdong Province.
