The Eye Learn I.CARE: Joint-U Eye Care Ambassador Training Team has been awarded the Faculty Education Award 2025, the Faculty of Medicine, CUHK, in recognition of their learning experiences for preclinical, nursing and non-medical undergraduate students, significant contributions to extracurricular activities, and commitment to volunteering in community service.

Spearheaded by Dr Kelvin KL CHONG, the ‶EYE Learn, I.CARE″ program is the sister initiative to ‶EYE Screen, I.CARE.″ established since May 2022. It provides a cross-institutional, multi-disciplinary platform for medical, nursing, university, and high school students to gain hands-on experience in ophthalmology while offering complimentary eye care services and education to the community. Over the past two years, over 300 medical, nursing, and university students, along with 800 secondary student volunteers, have participated as eye care ambassadors in over 120 weekends, accumulating over 1,000 hours of service time.

Dr Chong expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the opportunity provided by the Deanery of the Faculty of Medicine for this very prestigious award, ‶I am also truly grateful for the Department′s unwavering support. I am very proud to be part of such a wonderful collaborative team that combines teaching, service learning, volunteering, clinical and research work on this weekend platform. This award continues to inspire and motivate us.″
