We are pleased to announce that our research staff members, Dr Emma A RAN, Dr ZHANG Yuzhou, and our postgraduate student Ms LI Yi, have received Travel Grant Awards from the 2025 Annual meeting of the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO Annual Meeting 2025) held in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA.

The Travel Grant Awards recognise their outstanding research efforts and significant contributions to the field of vision and ophthalmology and visual sciences. As recipients, they received support covering registration fees and partial travel expenses, enabling them to actively participate in his internationally renowned scientific conference.

During the ARVO Annual Meeting 2025, these emerging scholars engaged with fellow participants and leaders in their respective fields from across the globe, gaining valuable insights to further their research endeavours. Among them:

• Dr Emma A RAN, a Scientific Officer under supervision of Dr Carol YL CHEUNG and Prof Clement Tham, presented a paper titled “Building an Artificial Intelligence-Based Infrastructure for Prospectively Validating Glaucoma Detection from 3D Optical Coherence Tomography Scans in Real-world” and moderated a poster session on ″Generative AI and Deep Learning in the Real World″. She is also a selected participant in the ARVO Women’s Leadership Development Program (WLDP) as a female scientist.
• Dr ZHANG Yuzhou, a Postdoctoral Fellow under the supervision of Prof Jason CS YAM, presented a paper titled “Cost-Effectiveness Analysis of Low-concentration Atropine for Myopia Progression (LAMP1) Study”.
• Ms LI Yi, a second-year postgraduate student under the supervision of Prof Jason CS YAM, presented a paper titled “Effect of 0.01%, 0.025%, and 0.05% Atropine Eye Drops on Peripapillary Gamma Zone Changes”.
