Prof Calvin CP PANG, S. H. Ho Research Professor of Visual Sciences of the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences, The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), and Director of the Shantou University (STU) / CUHK Joint Shantou International Eye Center (JSIEC) visited the Department of Basic Medical Sciences, Shantou University Medical College on 25 May 2023 to deliver a lecture on ″A journey on research experiences and academic pursuits″ to students majoring in Biomedical Science.

Prof Pang shared his own experience in pursuing academic goals and career planning. The lecture has broadened the minds of STU students and enlightened them with new knowledge and perspectives. The candid sharing by Prof Pang was warmly received by STU students. Dr Frieda LAW, Executive Director of Li Ka Shing Shantou University Foundation and Consultant of Shantou University Medical College, and Dr XU Liyan, Executive Vice-Director of the Shantou University Medical College, also attended the lecture and joined the discussion at the Q&A session.

During the visit to STU, Prof Pang also met with the leadership and faculty members of the Department of Basic Medical Sciences of Shantou University Medical College to exchange views on fostering medical education and strengthening academic collaboration between CUHK, JSIEC and STU.
