The American Academy of Ophthalmology 2016 (http://www.aao.org/annual-meeting) was held at the McCormick Place, Chicago, in conjunction with the Asia-Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology (APAO) from 15 Oct to 18 Oct 2016.

During the four-day international conference, our faculty members presented talks and gave instruction courses.

Prof Clement CY THAM

Prof Tham, Chairman of the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences and the Secretary-General of APAO, was an invited speaker. He presented on topics including ″Appositional Angle Closure After Laser Peripheral iridotomy″, ″Gonioscopy & Anterior Segment Imaging for Glaucoma Surgery″, ″Lowering of Intraocular Pressure After Phacoemulsification in PACG and POAG″, and ″Laser Gonioplasty or Lens Extraction – The Role of Imaging″. He also served as a senior instructor for the instruction course on ″Management of PACG: Surgical treatment″.

Prof Christopher KS LEUNG

Prof Leung served as a moderator for the lecture on ″Is it Progression? Is it Glaucoma?″ He also delivered a talk on ″Mild Progression of Visual Field Loss in Patient With Primary Open-Angle Glaucoma″.

Dr Vishal JHANJI

Dr Jhanji was a co-instructor for instruction courses on ″Management of Ocular Chemical Injuries″ and ″Complex Corneal Clinics″.

Dr Kelvin KL CHONG

The induction ceremony of the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ASOPRS) was held during AAO, Prof Robert A Goldberg, President of ASOPRS recognized Dr Kelvin Chong as a member of ASOPRS. ASOPRS is an American Society consisting of exceptionally qualified surgeons with vast experiences in plastic, facial, and reconstructive surgeries. We congratulate Dr Chong on his membership of ASOPRS.

Dr Chong served as a senior instructor for an instruction course on ″Updates in Lacrimal Surgery″ and ″Emerging Roles of Image-Guided Orbital Surgeries″. He was also instructor for courses ″Thyroid Eye Disease″ and ″Advanced Techniques in Orbital Decompression and Expansion″.

Dr Mårten E BRELÉN

Dr Brelen presented a poster on ″Treatment of cystoid macular edema secondary to retinitis pigmentosa: A systematic review″.

Dr Jason CS YAM

Dr Yam had a presentation on ″Restrictive Strabismus: Heavy Eye Syndrome″.
