We were honored to have a 20-member delegation from the Philippine Eye Research Institute (PERI), led by their Director, Dr Leo DP CUBILLAN, visiting our department on October 4, 2016. PERI is an eye research unit based at the University of Philippines, which is also the premiere eye research institute of the country. Its mission, to prevent blindness among Filipinos, is achieved through many of its research programmes.

Our Chairman, Prof Clement CY THAM and Dr Ben NM LAM, Deputy Hospital-Chief-Executive of the Hong Kong Eye Hospital (HKEH) welcomed the delegation from PERI. Dr Leo DP CUBILLAN, Director of PERI, introduced the clinical and research work in PERI. There were guided tours of the Hong Kong Eye Hospital, CUHK Eye Centre, and CUHK Ophthalmic Research Centre. Prof Christopher KS LEUNG presented our Department′s achievements in clinical research and Dr Michael TK NG shared the ongoing basic ophthalmic research at CUHK.

This visit marked the beginning of our collaboration with PERI. Both departments plan to have further collaboration and exchange of knowledge in near future.
