DOVS Faculty Members Share Insights At Hong Kong Glaucoma Society Scientific Symposium

The Hong Kong Glaucoma Society (HKGS) was officially established on 1 August 2024, and hosted its first Scientific Symposium on 7 November 2024. Co-hosted by the College of Ophthalmologists of Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Ophthalmological Society, the event was well attended by over 80 eye doctors and a great success. Our faculty members contributed in various capacities, sharing their expertise and insights on glaucoma research and management.

In the symposium, Prof Clement CY THAM, our Department Chairman, delivered a welcome speech in his capacity as the Founding President of the HKGS. ″The Hong Kong Glaucoma Society aims to foster collaboration, enhance skills and knowledge exchange, and support eye care professionals in staying updated with the latest glaucoma management in Hong Kong.″ Prof Tham said.

Dr Poemen PM CHAN, our Department Associate Professor, presented a lecture titled ″Updates to the Asia-Pacific Glaucoma Guidelines″, which highlighted the latest advances in glaucoma diagnosis and treatments presented in the Asia-Pacific Glaucoma Guidelines, an official publication of the Asia-Pacific Glaucoma Society. Moderated by Prof Tham and Dr Noel CY CHAN, Clinical Associate Professors (Honorary) of DOVS, this session fostered rewarding interactions and fruitful exchanges of ideas and thoughts among participating ophthalmologists.
