Our Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences (DOVS), under the group name ″CUHK Eye Catchers″, participated joyously in the 6th APAO Fundraising Run in Bali, which was held in Indonesia on 25 February 2024. The team has been awarded the Highest Mileage Award in Group with an impressive distance of 437.27 km, and the Top Fundraising Award in Group with a total donation of US$2,080.
The 6th APAO Fundraising Run aimed to promote the science and art of ophthalmology among all nations in the region. Donations raised will be used to support the St. Damian Leprosy/Disability Rehabilitation Centre in Indonesia and the APAO Leadership Development Program (LDP).
DOVS faculty members achieved inspiring results with high morale. Prof Clement CY THAM, our Chairman of the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences (DOVS), achieved the 2nd highest personal mileage in the ′Male Ophthalmologists′ group in the virtual ′Run to Bali′ race, during the one-month immediately before the APAO 2024 Bali Congress. Prof Carmen KM CHAN, our Honorary Clinical Professor, ranked the 4th highest personal mileage among the Female Ophthalmologists. In addition, Dr Bella R SHEN, our Postdoctoral Fellow, and Dr Julia YY CHAN, our Assistant Professor, attained the 1st highest mileage and 4th highest mileage among the Young Ophthalmologists, respectively.
Congratulations to all faculty members for their generous contributions to APAO. We look forward to joining more meaningful events for the advancement of ophthalmology in the Asia-Pacific region in future.
