We are delighted to announce that Dr CHU Waikit has been promoted to Associate Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences (DOVS), The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), effective from 1 April 2025.
Dr Chu began his career focusing on gene functions in various eye diseases and developing novel treatments. He joined CUHK in 2015 and has served as the Associate Head of the Graduate Division since 2018 and the Director of the CUHK Ophthalmology & Visual Sciences Department Laboratories since 2021.
Dr Chu has led international collaborative research programmes with scientists and clinicians from France, Argentina, Germany, Singapore, the USA, and China. His achievements include being recognised as one of the Top 100 Most Influential Ophthalmologists and Visual Scientists in the Asia-Pacific Region by the Asia Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology (APAO) in 2025, and receiving the Achievement Award by the APAO in 2019.
