Visit from Professor Veit-Peter Gabel

We are very much honoured to invite Professor Veit-Peter Gabel, the former Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of Regensburg, the former Chairman of the University Eye Hospital, Regensburg and the former Director for ICO Fellowships, to visit our Department on 26thOctober 2017.

A tour of CUHK Eye Centre, CUHK Ophthalmic Research Centre and Hong Kong Eye Hospital was guided by our Chairman Prof Clement Tham followed by a research seminar. Our assistant professor Dr Carol Cheung presented on “Artificial intelligence: how it may take care of your health in near future” and our research student Mr Tony Man presented on “The use of pre-amplified ERG electrodes to improve the quality of records” in the research seminar. Our postgraduate students have benefited a lot from Prof Gabel’s teachings.

Prof Gabel was invited to deliver a Grand Round lecture on “Artificial Vision” at Hong Kong Eye Hospital as well. The lecture was well attended by doctors from both public and private sectors in Hong Kong and it was most enlightening for ophthalmologists and students. We do look forward to seeing Prof Gabel in the near future.
