tham_sy_clipping maskChairman’s message

Dear friends and colleagues,

Reading books you love, instagramming your favourite dishes, seeing the smiles of your loved ones, may all too easily be taken for granted. Sadly, it is not so for people with eye diseases. Whether it is cataract, shortsightedness, corneal and dry eye diseases, glaucoma, retinal or macular diseases, uveitis, thyroid eye disease, or pediatric eye diseases such as amblyopia, unless it is treated appropriately and promptly, quality of life will be swiftly and seriously, and perhaps irreversibly, affected. The more unfortunate ones may even become blind.

Since its establishment in 1994, our Department has been persistently fighting eye diseases on the front-lines, and committed to clinical and laboratory research of eye diseases at the highest international level. We have taken leadership roles in providing training and educational programs for eye doctors, visual scientists, and eye care professionals. Our mission is to be a centre of international excellence in clinical and academic ophthalmology, in order to serve the local community in Hong Kong and regions beyond.

We sincerely invite you to go hand-in-hand with us, and to bring hope to tens of thousands of those with eye diseases, and their loving families.

Your generous gift will make a huge difference to what impact we could create in the areas of eye care, research, and teaching. Gifts made to our Department can be dedicated to support our specific world-leading research projects, internationally-renowned training programmes, impactful public educational campaigns, or even help establish a brand-new named treatment and research centre dedicated to a particular eye disease. Better still, all gifts are tax-deductible.

You are always most welcome to contact Mr. Yuen at (852) 3943 5868 or, if you are interested in learning more about the many ways in which you can support us, and support eye care.

Warmest personal regards,

Clement CY Tham
